1919

Early in February of 1919  Mr. McLachlan went upstairs one night, making his rounds, looking after his children which had come down with the flu; and to his amazement he saw, seated on a chair beside his desk, a perfectly calm and composed young woman.  He recognized her immediately as his sister and exclaimed 'Margaret', at which she rose, smiled at him, and vanished through the wall.  No doubt he told Dr. Hamilton about this; it will have been in their thoughts in the weeks and months leading into 1920.

All through 1919 Dr. Hamilton was busy with his medical practice and with the MLA work.  He was running for re-election also and his area of responsibility as MLA had been re-zoned so that he now ran in Winnipeg proper.

He was chairman of the Winnipeg Playgrounds Commission; Chairman of the Mothers' Allowances Commission; member of various medical committees seeking to raise the standard of medical education both in Winnipeg and throughout the province generally.  He also gave  considerable time to church activities and served on various boards and committees.
